Theblue moon has nothing to do with its name. The moon never turns blue.Blue moon can refer to either the third full moon in a season with four full moons, or the second full moon in a month.
August 2012 is a month with two full moons.The first full moon was August 1. The second full moon is August 31, 2012.The second full moon of August 2012 is the Blue Moon.
